FILIPINO SALADS

Ensaladang Pinoy (green salad)

A popular salad among Filipinos is Ensaladang Pinoy (green salad).

It is a variation of the garden salad and comes instead of Olive oil with Fish Sauce.

The Flavor of the Fish sauce is giving the dish a typical Asian taste.  

It is an easy dish to prepare, doesn’t cost much and is easy to combine with other Filipino dishes on this website.

Ensaladang Pinoy (green salad)

The ingredients needed for the Salad:

• One cup of Malunggay leaves

• One cup of kangkong leaves

• Two medium tomatoes (sliced)

• One sliced cucumber

• One  sliced small onion

• One singkamas, cut julienne

• A chopped Kinchay

The ingredients needed for the dressing:

• ¼ cup of sugar

• ¼ cup of vinegar

• 1 tablespoon of fish sauce

• ½ tablespoon of salt

• ¼ tablespoon ground black pepper

Fresh Tomatoes layered with Kesong Puti and Malungay Pesto on Mesclun Salad drizzled with Oil Free Guava Vinaigrette(4 servings)

Ingredients Measurements

• Ripe Tomato 1 pcs big

• Low Sodium Kesong puti 100 grams

• Salad Greens 50 grams

• Vinegar 3 tbsp

• Water 3 tbsp

• Dijon mustard 1 tsp

• Garlic minced 1 tsp

• Pepper to taste

• Basil leaves ½ cup

• Garlic minced 1 tsp

• Extra virgin olive oil 1/3 cup

• Water 2 tbsp

• Unsalted Peanuts 1 tbsp

The ingredients needed for the pesto:

Pako Salad (Fern Salad)

INGREDIENTS:• 1/2 kilo pako (cut and boiled)

• 4 tomatoes (washed and sliced into rings)

• 2 medium red onions ( sliced into rings)

• 4 hard-boiled eggs (sliced into rings)

• 3 medium potatoes (peeled, boiled and cubed)

• 2 cups vinegar

• 1/2 tsp. white sugar

• 1 tsp. black pepper (freshly ground)

• 1/2 tsp. table salt

Salad greens with fresh avocado slices and shredded crabstick in a creamy and tangy dressing

• 100g Romaine lettuce, shredded

• 2 tbsp chopped wansoy (or coriander leaves)

• 1 large avocado, peeled and sliced thinly

• 4 pcs crab sticks, shredded

• 1/2 cup chopped almonds, toasted

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 160g can Nestlé Cream

• 1 sachet 8g Maggi Magic sarap

• 2 tbsp lemon juice

• 1 tbsp chopped onions

• 1/4 cup Nestle Fresh Milk

• 1/2 tsp sesame oil
