Creating a blog, designed for an Aim Higher session, used with 10-15 year olds. The 15 year olds, unsurprisingly, got to the end, whereas the younger ones didn't. The students loved it, and can go away with a real 'product' and learn more.

WORKING IN PAIRS: 5 minutes

What do you really love and would like to tell the world about? Football? Elephants? Make-Up? A TV show?

Decide which overseas penfriend you are writing for: Who are they: boy/girl, same age? Which country?

WORKING IN PAIRS: 10 minutes

Go to: http://www.google.co.uk Search for sites on the subject

that you love: you need to look for ideas for site sections and words to write (images later): what do you think your penfriend would find interesting?

Produce a diagram for how your information is going to make a websiteAt least 5 pages, including:•“Homepage”•“About this site”

Choose 5 images to use on your site

Choose free images from the lower-half of the page (not the top paid-for images)

Click on the image Open the image full-size Right-click on the image Save it in a folder where

you can find it again

•Once the image is on the page you can drag & drop it

•Don’t forget where you saved the image!
