AGENDA Our clients

4

AGENDA

How has the way we’ve grown, structured, & managed our team evolved?

• Scale• Global • Rapid

We’re ten years old

55

Scale

66

77

8

ScaleHow to organise yourself when you’re bigger, without losing what makes you special?

Structure Optimum team size,

organisational structures, knowledge management

People More specialist skills, fewer

renaissance multi-skills More line management, processes

Changing world Broader range of services/offerings Plan for change and flexibility – the

market will keep things moving

9

ScaleHow do you organise yourself when you’re bigger, without losing what makes you special?

Take away lesson…

• Plan ahead – lay the foundations for growth

But, also…

• Don’t plan ahead – we’re in a very fast moving world - so expect the unexpected

1010

Global

1111

12

GlobalWhat do we do different now we, and our clients, are global?

Benefits of being global Economies of scale,

knowledge sharing, follow the sun, local insight & cultural alignment

Centralised or devolved? Economies of scale vs

local specialisms

Technology Use the cloud Use technology well –

it’s about behaviours not just technology

Which disciplines can work remotely?

Local – instructional design, project management, art direction

Remote – development, testing

13

GlobalWhat do we do different now we, and our clients, are global?

Take away lesson –

“a new definition of us”

14

Rapid

15

16

17

18

19

RapidWhy are we doing fewer ‘rapid’ projects now?

People Rapid started with the tools, but it’s

not the tools that make things rapid, it’s people

Limited pool of multi-skilled people

Quality more focus on achieving

business objectives, so need time - proper foundations to achieve real change

blends are longer term, more sustainable solutions

Technology Multiplatform takes longer

20

RapidWhy are we doing fewer ‘rapid’ projects now?

Rapid has its place – eg get a great robust model for product launches

But we’re in a more mature market and need a more strategic approach

Take away lesson do what’s right for your business/learners start with your objectives, not the tool

Case study McDonald’s

> A parallel story

22

McDonald’s (UK) – a parallel journey Rapid & Scale

Began with one multi-tasking person who was able to act as SME, writer, developer

As the team grew, has had to recruit specialist skills and less rapid models

Uses Kineo as an overflow resource, but also for more specialist work

Takes advantage of Kineo’s broader experience

Global No central LMS – now moving to a more centralised system Greater recognition of the need to join up – don’t need four

regions all creating courses on coffee
