The Reichstag building

The Reichstag Fire was an arson attack on the Reichstag building on 27 February 1933. The event is seen as pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.

After the fire the Reichstag wasn't fully recovered, suffered more damage from air attacks during World

War II.

1 mai 1945 the Germans saw the Soviet Victory Flag flying above.

On the morning of May 2, the Germans left the building under a white flag. It meant, that the

Soviet Union won the WW ll.

The first real reconstruction was decided 1961 by the west German Bundestag, the repairs according to the plans of the architect Paul Baumgarten were finished 1971.

The second reconstruction was planned by Lord Norman Foster and finished 1999.

Details of a wall with russian graffiti from the WW II at the east entrance of the

Reichstag. There is a date tag "20.05.45"
