Re: Request for Investigation of Haseko's Relationship with DPP Staffers

Dear Members of the City Council and the Ethics Commission:

I represent thousands of homeowners in a case against Haseko, the developer that promised to build a Marina and failed to deliver it despite entering into a Unilateral Agreement to obtain the zone change that allowed it to make over a billion dollars in home sales and add enormously to the horrific traffic conditions in West Oahu.

A jury found that Haseko committed unfair and deceptive acts and practices and that its conduct warranted 20 million dollars in punitive damages. Other claims remain pending against Haseko before the Court. I purposefully waited until after the jury trial to

be informed about any private meetings between DPP staffers and a developer or the Sunshine laws will become a farce. (Note that while Haseko's counsel agrees that the DPP should be neutral, "like a judge" Ms. Sokugawa apparently views herself as a cheerleader for Haseko, having given Ms. Tam a "thumbs up" for one of

her performances before the City Council.7)
