The 5 Stages of Mentoring

A mentoring relationship could give you a

huge competitive advantage that will help

you rise above your competitors & build a

successful, healthy, and sustainable business

The 5 Stages of Mentoring

1. Association

2. Groundwork

3. Challenges

4. Modelling

5. Reaping

Association

In this first stage, it’s all about creating a

connection between the client & the mentor

The client will state their goals or what

he or she wants out of the partnership

The mentor will in turn

provide more information

about what they can

provide for the client to

achieve what they want

The information in this stage will be used

to establish expectations & ground rules

between the two parties

Groundwork

In this stage, the mentor will make sure that

the client is mentally-prepared for all the

new areas that they are going to tackle, plus

the upcoming transition of change and growth

Challenges

This stage will mainly focus on assisting

the client to overcome challenges &

achieve the goals that have been outlined

in the original agreement

Through challenges, the client will learn

more about themselves, and will be able

to understand more about their values,

goals, and vision for success

Modelling

What is expected from the client at this

stage is that he or she, after knowing the

behaviour of other successful people, will

model their patterns & behaviour, and

implement them into their lives

Reaping

This is where the client will reap the

rewards of their efforts, and enjoy the

sweet taste of success it brings
