Objectives:
To give you 6 (shockingly!) simple ways to create products for your business and -
Show you how to use those products to promote your biz or sell them.
1. Blog your book:
Blogging your book puts you
in very good company
1. You’ll have ongoing content for your blog. No more blogger’s block!
2. A published book establishes you as an expert in your field.
3. You’ll get ongoing feedback from fans.4. Fans also will provide a built-in market for your book.
And -
5 Reasons to Blog Your Book
And (maybe) Self publish a successful
book and get a publishing deal
How to plan your blogged book
Choose your topic and begin to create an outline of your book.
Your topic should (of course!) relate to your area of expertise and be interesting to your target market.
Write the title for your book, after checking the search engines for the popularity of keywords you want to include.
Try Mindmapping your book
Or, use a white board with lots of colored markers.
Or a blank wall with lots of sticky notes
Setup for your blog:
Create categories for your blogged book within your WordPress blog.
Tips for success:
•Write your posts in Word first so you have your posts ready to compile into your book. Then add them to your blog. A post is usually 250 to 500 words.
•Set a schedule for adding new posts to your blog. Fans appreciate knowing when to expect your updates.
•Plan on including additional content for your blogged book that ISN’T in your blog.
More tips:
•Add Google Analytics to your blog to watch your traffic.
•Add an email sign-up so fans can subscribe to your updates.
•Respond promptly to comments.
•Promote your blogged book onsocial media to get more traffic
to your website and blog.
2. How to get excited about blogging (and actually do it!)
You can beg, borrow, and “steal”!
Keep up the momentum!
Do it when the muse strikes!
3. Turn your tweets or Facebook posts into tip sheets, blog posts and more.
Stick a toe in the water first.
• Do some research on social media before you create a new product.
• Create posts about topics you’re thinking of creating a product about.
Watch your Facebook Insights and retweets to see how people interact with your content and what gets the best response.
You can also directly query your social media followers –
“What do you want to learn more about?”
Or
“What are your biggest problems with _____?”
4. Grab excerpts from your book to quickly create tip sheets, workbooks, and blog posts.
How many spinoffs can you create from your book?
•Workbook – printed or pdf•Journal – printed or pdf•Audio version – mp3 download•Video series – mp4, DVD•Workshops/webinars•Keynote - speech•Email class - autoresponders•Tip sheets – pdf•White paper - pdf
One book becomes – all of this!
A book on productivity becomes:
An empire!
