We are investigating ways of capturing audience reactions, and exploring how we can use the data to inform the live audience, production teams, and audiences at home. ThWe are asking audience members topress their buttons when they are particularly enjoying or are moved by the discussion, and they may press as many times as they like.The buttons save a timestamp each time they are pressed, and synchronise this data via Bluetooth to a native Android app running on a paired smartphone. An analytics service then collates the data.For this experiment we are re-using hardware from our Internet of Things work exploring simple interaction methods for saving moments of BBC radio content.'e fob* is a small physical device that can provide simple feedback with minimal disruption.

The analysis found a positive contribution of the BBC to the Salford area in terms of employment, increased skill levels and spill -over effects. KPMG independent report on the online sector for BBC Trust finds that the BBC has had a positive economic impact on the sector via two channels, both resulting in overall market development and expansion:1, technology spill-overs driven by the BBCs innovation in the market; 2, and knowledge and skills spill - overs arising from BBC Online collaborations, partnerships and wider industry initiatives.
The BBCs move to Salford can be seen as what Paul Krugman describes as a 'small historical accident' which has started a path of attracting investment in creative activities.
