WCHD has been implemented

• To integrate and compliment related activities for more effective use of resources for women, children and newborn health development activities

• To strengthen the Maternal Newborn and Child health services

Objectives

General Objective

To provide quality health care service for women, children including newborn in order to reduce U5MR and MMR according to MDGs and to promote health development of women, children and newborn

Specific Objectives

To reduce Under Five Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate according to MDGs for Health

To ensure quality health services for children including newborn and women

Targets

Impact targets

• Reduce the Under-five Mortality Rate to

43/1,000 live births

• Reduce Infant Mortality Rate to 35/1,000 live

births

• Reduce Neonatal Mortality Rate to 16/1,000

live births

Coverage targets

(a)80% of all newborns receive the community

based Essential Newborn Care package

(b) 80% of all low birth weight infants receive

extra care during the newborn period

(c) 60% of the families practice hand washing

and provide appropriate feeding for children

0-23 months of age

(d) 60% of infants 0-6 months are exclusively

breastfed

(e) 50% of the acutely malnourished children

(uncomplicated moderate and severe

malnutrition) are treated adequately

(f) 90% of children with acute diarrhoea are

treated with Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT),

including Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and

continued feeding

(g) At least 70% of suspected pneumonia is

treated with antibiotics recommended by the

program
