Introduction Nowadays drugs has spread widely

resulting in a very critical consequences. It

comes in different types and has negative

effects. On the other hand, it can be used

for good purposes.

Definition

A drug is any biological substance,

synthetic or non-synthetic, that is taken

primarily for non-dietary needs. It is

usually synthesized outside of an

organism, but introduced into an

organism to produce its action.

¤ Heroin is a depressant drug derived from the

opium poppy. It comes in the form of a light

brown powder and is sold in small paper

wrappers. Heroin can be sniffed, smoked or the

powder can be dissolved in water and injected.

¤ Caffeine in it's purest form is a white powder. It

is found in coffee, tea and many soft drinks

(such as colas) and over the counter pain killers.

¤ Alcoholic drinks consist of ethyl or ethanol

alcohol and water. Alcohol is produced by the

fermentation of grains or vegetables.

¤ Cocaine comes in the form of a white powder

made from coca shrub that can be eaten,

smoked, sniffed or injected.

¤ Tobacco is the dried leaves of the Tobacco

plant. It grows in many parts of the world .

Tobacco can be consumed in the form of

cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing, or sniffed in

the form of snuff.

seeds; rolled into cigarettes. It can be both

smoked or eaten.

Effects Drugs damage the brain.

Cause heart attack.

It is harder to think clearly and people can do

dangerous things that could hurt themselves or

other people when they use drugs.

Lose or gain weight.

Cough a lot.

A person who uses drugs can become

dependants on them or addicted, it is very hard

for them to stop tacking drugs.

Have runny nose all the time.

Prefer loneness.

Uses Drugs can be used for Medical purposes:

1. Heroin is used medically for controlling extremely severe

pain

- Patients over the age of 75 years, and those with liver

and kidney dysfunction may need lower dosages of

Tramadol.

2. Coca is a standard remedy for symptoms of hunger and

cold and for two folk illnesses like: weakness, fatigue.

Coca was also the treatment for stomach upset and

diarrhea, cramps, and nausea. Next

3. Moreover, cocaine is used in medicine mainly as

a topical anesthetic in eye, ear, nose, and throat

surgery and fiber tube optical examinations of

the upper respiratory and digestive tracts.

4. Controlled doses of Amphetamines were one of

the first classes of drugs to be used in the

treatment of depression.

5.Caffeine stimulates the nervous system,

counters tiredness and helps prevent boredom.
