The Aging Population
• One of the major accomplishments of the 20th century is that 30 years were added to life expectancy in the United States.
• One of the biggest factors driving “the aging population” is the aging of baby boomers – the 78 million people born between 1946 and 1964.
• By 2011, the oldest boomer will reach age 65 and after that point, 10,000 boomers will turn 65 every day – the biggest and quickest aging of America in history.
