54-year-old female with multiple lung nodules

Differential Diagnosis

• Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma

• Adenoid cystic carcinoma

• Pleomorphic adenoma

Diagnosis?

Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma

• Most common malignant salivary gland tumor

• Can occur as a primary in the lung and arises in the trachea and main bronchi

• Two types:– Nodular: polypoid projection into lumen– Subepithelial: along long axis of bronchus
