• One digital library for researchers, students, public– > licensed content / BnL’s digitised paper collections

• One interface and login for everything• All digital content accessible on the go

Lessons learned

• a-z.lu is a service, built on a flexible platform, running on shared infrastructure – > Needs long-term vision + commitment

• a-z.lu interface evolves every 6-12 months

Making Paper Smarter

• Content analysis and structuring– Quick access and new research– iPad app BnL eLux (eluxemburgensia.lu)

• Raw material for Digitial Humanities research– Mass digitisation– > Needs long term funding

• Digital Humanities will in turn make Digital Libraries smarter

• Collaboration requires an innovative approach, must be built on a flexible and shared infrastructure– > Long term digital preservation

• One building for easy and fast access to all collections, departments and services

• Optimal preservation for paper collections• A learning hub to foster the knowledge society• A way to improve technological literacy and

avoid digital exclusion– > Parallel to digital library: provide new, flexible

services, built on a new infrastructure
