Purpose : The purpose of establishment of National Agro-Met Center is to support and provide meteorological, climatological information/ advisories to agricultural production and food security related departments /agencies to boost agriculture production in the country.

Aim : The National Agro-Met Center (NAMC) aims to address the needs of the farming community and its other related stakeholders, through provision of weather advisory information and services through the various delivery channels available in their vicinity for assisting them in making rational decision.

Weekly Weather Advisory for Farmers (From 20st to 25th April, 2015) A western disturbance is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist in upper and central parts of the country till Monday (morning).

Monday 20 AprilMainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi & Gujranwala divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and GB during morning hours.

Tuesday 21 April Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.

Wednesday 22 April Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.

Thursday 23 April Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.

Friday 24 April Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.

Saturday 25 April Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.

Advises for Crops

1.Wheat crop is in different maturity stages. Farmers are advised to irrigate the crops keeping the expected rain in the agricultural plains of the country.

2. Weeds are expected to shoot in excess after recent rains. Farmers should control weeds growth soon after rains.

3.Farmers are advised to control further weeds growth at the present growing stages to stop any negative impact over the crops. Weeds removing practices should be started soon after expected rains in the mentioned areas.

4.Farmers of upper half and northwest Balochistan should be careful about irrigation and spraying chemicals on the crops during or before expected rains during the week.

Highlights….

•Light to moderate rainfall reported in the agricultural plains of the Punjab, K.P, G.B and Kashmir and light rainfall reported in Balochistan and Sindh during the last decade.•Highest amount of rainfall reported as 89.7mm at Kotli during the last decade.•Highest maximum temperature recorded 48.0°C at Larkana during the last decade.•Light to moderate rainfall expected in the agricultural plains of the Punjab, K.P, G.B & Kashmir & dry weather is expected in Sindh and Balochistan during the next decade.•Wheat crop is in different maturity stages. Farmers are advised to stop irrigation the crops keeping in view the occurred and expected rain in the agricultural plains of the country.•Weeds are expected to shoot in excess after recent rains. Part-2 Ten Days Weather Advisory for Farmers (21st to 30th April, 2015)

Temperature ForecastTemperatures are likely to be normal/slightly above normal in most of the agricultural plains of the country.

Rain ForecastPunjab: Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the Punjab however light to moderate rainfall is expected in the province during the 2nd half of decade.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Mainly dry weather is expected in the province. However light to moderate rainfall is expected in during 2nd half decade.

Sindh: Mostly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the Sindh.

Balochistan: Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the Balochistan however light to moderate rain is expected at few places of the province including Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Quetta on 25th to 26th of April.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the G.B however light to moderate rain is expected from 26th of decade.

Kashmir: Mainly dry weather is expected in most of the parts of the Kashmir however light to moderate rainfall is expected in 2nd half of this decade.

Wind ForecastNormal wind pattern may prevail in most of the agricultural plains of the country during the decade.

Seasonal Weather Outlook (April – June, 2015)

• Synthesis of the latest model forecasts for Apr - Jun, 2015 (AMJ), current synoptic situation and regional weather expert’s judgment indicates that normal to slightly above normal precipitation is expected all over the country with average during Apr and May, and slightly above normal June.

• Slightly below average day temperature is likely to occur during April and May. However, day temperature will abruptly rise from early June and become above normal during June.

• Slightly average precipitation is expected during the season all over the country with slightly normal temperature during whole predicted season.

Overall minimum charge of Rs. 1,000 applies to all enquiries. End users requesting data for claim purposes are charged Rs. 10,000 extra. Data is supplied on the understanding that it is for a single end user and cannot be passed to a Third Party nor can it be used to generate a Meteorological Value Added Service. If data requested is used to form a component of a saleable product, or required for onward dissemination, then formal negotiations with PMD are necessary.
