Conduct regional meetings

◦ Create schedule for at least 7 meetings outside of conferences

◦ Create and circulate agendas◦ Chair meetings◦ Follow up on action items ◦ Conduct elections when necessary

Attend all MSCSA conferences

◦ Serve at Governing Council meetings and prep meetings

◦ Vote in the best interest of all students and the association (No straw polls!)

◦ Report on regional business

Ensure communication with regions and with the MSCSA

Commit to a full-year term Review/edit regional bylaws once a

Be ready to step in as the Representative at any point in time

Communicate with Representative regularly

The first few….

Encourage members to challenge themselves

Be the expert in their region◦ GC – experts on MSCSA organizational topics◦ PC – experts on MSCSA advocacy/policy topics

Engage students and provide leadership opportunities ◦ Get them involved! Committee opportunities◦ Delegate tasks

Be aware of MSCSA business

The other few…. Ask questions! Be responsive

◦ Respond to constituents in timely fashion◦ Respond to MSCSA office in timely fashion

Be positive – don’t stir drama Meet deadlines Be professional and lead by example Help with outreach and communication Promote our scholarship Welcome our new students
