AIM TO• 1.) Raise awareness on the importance

of protecting and respecting dogs;• 2.) Inform communities about upcoming

programs and generate support to vaccination programs;

• 3.) Inform dog owners and communities of their responsibilities to help care for and protect dogs, and about dog bite management.

WHAT IS RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP?

RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER“ A knowledgeable and responsible owner knows that he/she

should provide adequate sustenance (food and water) “

“ Provide proper shelter in a secure comfortable environment not exposed to the heat and rain”

“ Provide Medical Care ( updated vaccination especially rabies; gets at least an annual check up; and will bring his/her pet to

a vet if sick or injured”

• “ Address their pet’s physical, social, emotional and mental well being e.g. daily enrichment (play, socialization, training, daily

exercise regardless of whether it is a purebreed, mixed breed, native or aspin”

“ Ensure cleanliness of his/her home and will always clean up pet mess (poo and pee) to avoid any foul- smelling odors in the household”

“ A responsible owner would also spay/ neuter his/her pet to avoid unwanted pregnancies and keep his/her pets to a number that he/she can provide for”

“ A responsible pet owner would abide by the responsibilities of a pet owner under RA 9482 “Anti Rabies Act” and not allow to roam freely in public. He/she would use a leash to take their dogs out for walk or when they are out in the streets, malls, parks and public areas.”

“ A responsible owner would not torture any animal; neglect to provide adequate care, sustenance or shelter; maltreat any animal or to subject any dog to dogfight; and kill or cause or procure to be tortured or deprived of adequate care’

RA 10631: SECTION 4• “ Any person who subjects

any animal to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect shall, upon conviction by final judgement, be punished by imprisonment and/or fine, as indicated in the following graduated scale:

RA 10631: SECTION 4• Imprisonment of one (1) year and six (6)

months and one (1) day- two (2) years• and/or a fine not exceeding One hundred

thousand pesos (P 100,000.00)• If the animal subjected to - cruelty - maltreatment or - neglect … dies.

RA 10631: SECTION 4• Imprisonment of one (1) year and one (1) day to to

one year and six (6) months and/ or a fine not exceeding Fifty thousand pesos

• (P 50,000.00) – if the animal subjected to - cruelty - maltreatment or - neglect - survives but is severely injured with loss of its

natural faculty to survive on its own and needing human intervention to sustain its life;

RA 10631: SECTION 4• Imprisonment of six (6) months to one (1)

year• and/ or fine not exceeding thirty thousand

pesos (P30,000.00)• For subjecting any animal to - cruelty - maltreatment - neglect but without causing its death or

incapacitating it to survive on its own.

RA 10631: SECTION 4• Imprisonment of two (2) years and 1

day and / or fine of P 250,000.00 committed by

a. syndicate b. who make business out of animal

cruelty c. public officer or employee d. where at least 3 animals are

involved
