POSSIBLE FILMING LOCATIONS
• Before beginning my teaser trailer filming, I decided to research possible
locations to use as a set. When considering this I had to decide a location
which fitted the conventions of a horror genre as well as fitting in with the plot
to my film. At the start of this research process I brain stormed ideas
surrounding the type of area I wish to use as well as the general themes
• The setting for horror genres stereotypically occur in small communities or
isolated locations, or any other location that has feelings of isolation and
vulnerability such as rural environments. Contrastingly it may be a busy
urban area which has the juxtaposition with the event and a feeling of safety
in the urban area. Large abandoned or run-down buildings also add to this
feeling of being alone and a dark atmosphere. Examples of these settings
include woods, abandoned hospitals/prisons and other areas inciting feelings
of aloneness and distance from safety/urban area/help.
• I decided to follow the convention of a setting with vulnerability and isolation, as this best
fits the plot for my film, however I will also do part of the filming in an urban area as I like
the idea of juxtaposing the feeling of safety in this area with the danger in the plot.
Therefore I believe the best areas to film would be woodland/fields to create this sense of
isolation. As well the use of urban areas such as alleyways to create the sense that this
attacker could strike at any time in any location. Another key element to the filming is the
time of day, all of my filming will be shot in the hours of darkness, usually after 7pm.
However this also raises issues around having enough light to film effectively therefore
the areas need sufficient lighting, this means I need locations with enough ambient light
(day light, lampposts etc.) or artificial lighting. Therefore I will produce a schedule and
timetable for the filming of the teaser trailer to ensure I stay up to date.
• The specific areas I have chosen to film are the areas around where I live; as I live in a
rural village it will give me both locations I choose to film. Other locations will also include
woodland area around my sixth form as both of these areas can be easily accessed when
I need to film.
This is the area I will use as my filming location near
my home.
