Planning – Casting/Costuming/Props

Casting I will use a opportunity sample to choose

my actors.

I will use two actors of a similar age and build to show their similarities but also to highlight their differences, this combined with my costuming should create a feeling that these characters are two sides of the same coin.

Casting

I plan to use Jeremy Ratcliffe for the role of the good character.

Jeremy contrasts well with Robbie – Height/Hair colour

Looks like an everyday guy – this will help with representation.

Casting I intend to use Aydon

Davies for the role of the Reaper.

While Aydon is not big, his build is perfect for a powerful supernatural being.

He has some previous experience in amateur acting.

Casting Robbie is used as the

villainous conjuror.

His shorter and fairer hair contrasts with Jeremy’s darker hair. Robbie is also of a similar height.

His solemn expression makes him perfect for the role of the conjuror.

Make-up Jeremy – I plan to use make up to darken his

skin because the lighting may make the character look washed out.

Robbie- I plan to use make in the same way as I did for Jeremy.

Aydon-As Aydon is a being of Death I plan to make his skin a pale white, this would crossover with my skull motif from my magazine and poster.

Costumes I plan to have Jeremy’s outfit a simple design. He will wear

jeans and a white t-shirt to denote life/goodness. I will use this simple costume design so he represents a average person.

I plan to have Robbie’s wearing the same outfit as the first but with a black t-shirt, this will denote death/corruption. This use of similar outfits will show how the characters are similar but have taken different choices in life.

Aydon’s outfit, who plays the reaper will follow the design that my magazine cover used; a black suit representing deaths, funerals and corruption. This imagery is perfect in showing what the character is without the use of special effects.

Props I plan to have a makeshift torch to light, this will represent

the character’s struggle against the coming darkness.

If my torch does not work effectively, I will, after careful consideration over the risks, use a deodorant can with a match to create a makeshift flamethrower.

Other props I plan to use are –Candles – these will set a ominous atmosphere to the ritual scene. These will also have a practical purpose of giving light to the dark set I will be working on.

I also plan to use druidic stones to add to the realism of the ritual, as these pagan stones with symbols carved on them combined with the location I plan to use, make the scene look effective and believable.
