- 1. Eurovision Project - an editable project for schools to
practise Geography, Music & Drama, Citizenship, MFL and ICT
skills within the fun theme of the Eurovision Song Contest
- 2. For a Class divided into groups or individuals representing
countries
- Each group can edit their own slide within this presentation in
normal view (not slideshow) to add information they find out about
their chosen country.
- Delete any slides you dont want to use.
- There are additional notes for teachers in the notes space
below each slide in normal view
- 3. What is Eurovision?
- The Eurovision Song Contest is a televised music contest, with
the original aim of promoting inter-European relations.

- The competition is not necessarily restricted to those in
Europe. Participants include Israel, Morocco, Tunisia and
Lebanon

- The show is broadcast in over 35 countries worldwide, including
Australia, Canada, and Japan. It gets around 600 million
viewers

- Find previews and downloads of all this years songs,
interviews, photos and logos.
- Make sure you are aware of copyright issues if you wish to
include any official logos in your work.
- (Often it is fine if it is for non-commercial,
private/educational use and not distributed on the internet without
prior permission)

- 8. 1 st Task (Geography and ICT Objectives)
- Each group must find their country on the following map and
move their pin to the right place.

- 10. Find and label your chosen country with a pin:
- 11. 2 nd Task (Geography and ICT Objectives)
- Groups must first find & save a picture of the flag for
their country.
- Next right-click on the appropriate country in the next map and
select format auto shape
- Select colour, then scroll down to fill effects then click on
the tab picture
- Click select picture and locate the flag saved earlier. Click
insert & ok
- If done correctly your country should now be coloured the same
as your flag like UK is on the map.
- 12. Locate your chosen country and colour the background the
same as the appropriate flag.
- 13. 3 rd Task (MFL Intercultural Understanding & ICT
objectives)
- In your groups, copy the next slide (red) by
- -clicking on the slide and then on Insert at the top of the
page,
- -then scroll down to duplicate slide
- -then start filling in the information about your country.
Remember to save it!

- 15. 4 th Task (MFL Oracy, Intercultural Understanding & ICT
Objectives)
- What is the main language spoken in your chosen country?
- Find out how to say hello in that language. (A really useful
site for this is Newbury Park School )
- Use audacity to record yourselves saying it, click on export as
mp3 and save to an appropriate folder.
- Now click Insert then Movies & Sounds then Sounds from
file, locate your clip and click ok to insert it onto your
slide.

- 17. 5 th Task (Drama, MFL. PE & Music Objectives )
- Use a site such as Mama Lisas World to find a short song or
rhyme from your chosen country
- (or any French, Spanish, German song if your teacher
agrees)
- In your groups, rehearse singing & performing your song.
You may want to make a routine up too.
- Decide as a class whether to video your acts or to perform them
live for the 6 th Task

- 19. 6 th Task (Drama, MFL. PE & Music Objectives )
- You will need a presenter to hold your own Eurovision Song
Contest now.
- In your groups, (with or without costumes!) take turns to
perform your song & routine to the rest of the class.
- While watching try to think what marks as a group you will
award. Keep them secret until the voting begins.

- Traditionally votes must be reported by each country in French
to the presenters.
- When it is your countrys turn to report their votes, start with
the highest for example La France; 12 points
- Presenters must keep track of the score either on the board or
using Scorewiz
- 22. To complete your project
- Go back and delete all the instruction / task slides, keeping
only the maps, information slides and slides created by your
class.
- Add any additional slides with photos, video clips and/or sound
clips of your class and their acts / the voting.
- Save and keep as evidence when working towards an International
Schools Award !
