WHAT IS WITRICITY

• Transfer of electricity without using connections between input and load is termed as wireless electricity.

• It was invented by Nikola Tesla in 1890.

Now-a-days there is a rapid increase of electronic goods like cell phones ,laptops ,I-pods etc., which rely on the chemical storage of energy by the battery which need to be recharged frequently

The term WiTricity was used for a project that took place at MIT, led by Marin Soljacic  in 2007.

It is based on simple physics principle that “Energy can be transferred wirelessly by utilizing magnetically coupled resonance”.

Strong coupling between electromagnetic resonant objects causes transferring of energy wirelessly between them

•Highly Resonant Strong Coupling Provides High Efficiency Over Distance.

•Energy Transfer via Magnetic Near Field can Penetrate and Wrap around Obstacles.

•Non-Radiative Energy Transfer is Safe for People and Animals.

•Scalable Design Enables Solution from milli watts to Kilowatts.

Witricity Vs Radiative power transfer

•Witricity technology for power transfer is non radiative and relies on near magnetic field.

•Most of the radio station use radio frequency waves that needs to be amplified at receiving station.

•Some of the wireless energy transfer relies on line of sight transmission way,but it is not so in case of witricity.

•We can envisage a future in which the world of wireless arrives with witricity

•WITricity corp. is working to make this future a reality, developing wireless electricity technology that will operate safely and efficiently over long distance ranging from m to km and will deliver power ranging from mW to kW.
