BHEL
• BHEL was established in 1960’s in Bhopal under Indo-Soviet agreement.
• Largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India.
• Got 'Maharatna' status on 1 Feb,2013.• BHEL has a share of 59% in India’s total
installed generating capacity of power.• BHEL filed 351 patents and copyrights
with various organization.

Turbo-generator• Turbo Generator is basically a turbine directly connected
to a generator for the generation of electricity.
• Turbo generator operates on the fundamental principles of ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION.
• It converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.
• Mechanical motion is generated using a turbine as a prime mover which gets the rotational energy by dry steam or pressurised steam.
• Turbo generator rotor is filled with hydrogen gas which is used to prevent the coil from decaying.
• And the stator uses both hydrogen as well as water for cooling purpose.

Excitation System
• The process of generating a magnetic field by means of an electric current is called excitation.
• It provides power to the field windings thus produce field for rotor.
Types of exciter
• Brush type exciter / Static excitation• Brush less exciter
Brush Type/Static Excitation
• Excitation is provided by current transfer by contact through Carbon Brushes, Slip ring and field lead.

EXCITERTHREE PHASE MAIN EXCITER
Advantage Of Brush Less Exciter Over Brush Type Exciter
• Eliminates Slip Rings, Brush gear and all problems associated with transfer of current via sliding contacts.
• Eliminates the Hazard of changing Brushes on Load
• Brush Losses are eliminated
