INTRODUCTION
National Engineering Industries Limited (NEI) is the flagship
company of the CK Birla Group, a conglomerate with a
turnover of US$ 1.6 billion. NEI was founded in 1946 by the
renowned industrialist, Shri B M Birla, under the name of
‘National Bearing Company Limited’. The company
commenced manufacturing in 1950 with an annual
production of 30,000 bearings in 19 sizes. With increasing
activities and grant of industrial licenses for other vital
industries and manufacturing, the name of the company was
changed in 1958 to ‘National Engineering Industries Ltd.’
retaining its original trade mark NBC.

BEARING
“Bearing” is derived from the verb “to bear” a
bearing being a machine element that allows one
part to bear (i.e., to support) another.
A bearing is a machine element that constrains
relative motion between moving parts to only the
desired motion.
It needs a good support to ensure stability and
frictionless rotation.
SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
A spherical roller bearings is a
rolling-element bearing that enables
spinning with low friction, and allows
angular imbalance.
Basically these bearings support a spinning base in
the inner band that may be out of alignment in
regard to the external band.
SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
CONSTRUCTION
Spherical roller bearings involve an inner ring with two
raceways prepared at a position to the bearing axis, an
external ring with a common spherical raceway, spherical
rollers, cages and in certain designs also internal guide
rings or center rings.

SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
DESIGN
Mostly spherical bearings are developed with two
series of rollers, enabling them to take very large radial
and large axial loads. There are also styles with one
row of rollers, appropriate for reduced radial loads and
almost no axial loads.
SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
APPLICATION
Spherical bearings are generally used in countless
industrial applications, where heavy loads and
moderate speeds.
Spherical roller bearings used in Gear boxes, Wind
Turbines, Agricultural Machines, Paper Industry and
Textile Machine.
