ABSTRACT

In our project explains about the pipe cutting by using

the mini cut off machine. It is focused only for small diameter

of pipe. At present electricity are used in a large amount for

cutting both small size and large size diameter of pipe. But in

our project we use only less amount of power. Vibrations are

controlled due to the limited weight imposed on the machine.

Since it is easily portable it shall be used by a plumber or an

electrician and it is even used in small cottage industries.

INTRODUCTION

One day our house was undergone with water leakage

maintenance. The plumber cuts the PVC pipes with hacksaw

blade, but while cutting the G.I pipes he measured the pipe and

took it to the lathe and then he cuts the pipe. At that time I

thought to overcome this problem. I decided to design a mini

cutoff machine. That resulted in our project.

This was designed mainly for Non-technicians such as

electrician and plumber.

ELECTRIC MOTOR WITH ACCELERATOR

This is the main component in this machine.

This motor rotates at the speed of 6500 per minute.

It requires low power.

The accelerator is used to control the motor

speed.

CROSS SLIDER

The cross slider function is to provide cutting action to

the saw and the action of cutting saw will be perpendicular to

center line of machine.

VISE

A vise is a mechanical apparatus used to secure

an object to allow work to be performed on it.

ABRASIVE SAW

An abrasive saw, also known as a cut-off saw is a

power tool which is typically used to cut hard materials, such

as metals.

STOPPER

It is used

when we need

number of products

with the same

length. It is made up

of an adjustable

screw.

SAFETY GUARD

This is one of the

important measures in a

machine. There are two

safety guards in this

machine. One is for belt

safety and the other is for

spark protection.

WORKING

Cut off machine operation is based on circular-saw

blade movement. Depending on the work piece type, various

kinds of blades with different rpm are selected. There is no feed

motion. The part is fixed firmly to the table to avoid uneven cut

in case of loosening. Preliminary process stages include precise

examination. First, the part is fixed and tested for security. Then

the circular-saw blade is inspected for security, integrity and

sharpness of blade. Next, the blade is switched on. The cutting

process starts only when the required rpm is reached. It is a

crucial point, since when the blade does not speed up enough it

can make an uneven cut or damage work piece edges. Every

type of cut requires a specific kind of blade. Thus, thin-walled

parts and work pieces require a fine-pitch blade. To cut a solid

part, it is reasonable to use a wide-pitch blade.

APPLICATIONS

Since the machine is portable, Non technicians like a

plumber and an electrician can take this machine to the

required site and cut the G.I and PVC pipes for the

required size.

A PVC bend manufacturer shall use this machine to

cut the PVC pipes for the required bend size, though we

can cut almost 650 pieces in an hour.

A motor key manufacturer uses this machine to

manufacture keys.

A carpenter uses this machine to cut wood reapers.
