ByK.Azarudeen-13BCL0096S.Muthukumar-13BCL0304P.Mohankumar-13BCL0327

PROBLEM DEFINITION

• Design Verification of a residential building using a software - (Staad pro 2015) .

• Residential building of G+1 floor from a location(Pudukottai) is taken for verification

THE DESIGNED PLAN OF BUILDING

SNAPS OF THE BUILDING

VALUES ADOPTED

• SLAB: 0.15m (depth)• BEAM: 0.25m x 0.3m• COLUMN: 0.3m x 0.3m• LIVE LOAD: 3kN/m (maximum adopted)

DESCRIPTION

• The buildings live load and dead load is calculated from the type of material used and the dimensions

• Dimensions of slab, beams, column, footing of a residential building are verified for compliance to Indian Code

• M20 concrete and Fe415 steel have been used for this building• The plan and photos of the building are provided.

ERRORS & MISTAKES

• Error caused in assigning the dimensions to the particulars

• Beams were not intersected properly which leads to error in calculation

• Not intersecting the slabs.• Assigning live load in wrong directions.• Worksheet assigning errors.• Assuming wrong standard values in calculations.

LEARNIGS

• Design a building using STAAD pro for • 1)Dead load and live load assigning• 2)Dimension assigning• 3) Basic kinds of possible errors• 4) Problems in automatic load design.• Learned to use excel sheet.• IS 875(part2) for residential building.• Basic design of Beams, Colums, Slabs in worksheet and

hand calculations.

CONCLUSIONS

• The resistance to the live load and dead load is verified for beams, columns, and slabs of the building.

• The results were compared to the actual plan and the safety criteria is checked.
