Elluminate as a Tool Meetings where everyone is “in the same room” at

the same time sharing content Break-out rooms for private meetings Everything you can do at in-person meetings you

can replicate virtually with Elluminate

Two Example Events Banned Books Week (BBW)

In-person event at SJSU for many years‒ Celebrating the freedom to read

Beginning in 2008, a parallel event was hosted on Elluminate for remote participants

Resume and Interview Workshop In-person event at SJSU for many years

‒ Panel interviews, resume reviews, mock interviews

I saw this as another opportunity to use Elluminate Accommodate those students that can not come

to SJSU’s campus

Banned Books Week event Live Event

Guest speakers, games, readings from banned books, raffle drawing, and light refreshments

Elluminate Event Everything included in the Live Event - with any

refreshments you wish! Speakers and participants across the US Video conferencing and web tour allow live

readings, prerecorded readings, and expanded content display

Used random.org for raffle prize

Resume and Interview Workshop In-person event has been very successful

Venue for students and recent graduates to meet with library professional volunteers to:‒ Listen to panel presentations ‒ Review their resumes‒ Participate in mock interviews

I designed the virtual event to expand the workshop to accommodate students that aren’t geographically close to SJSU Duplicated in-person format in Elluminate and

recruited library professionals across the country to participate
