Remember to listen with both ears. The problem is NOT what you think it is. Then, Grandmother looked each child lovingly in the eyes and gave them each a bowl of soup that nourished them to their bones.

What stories do you have

for me?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 17

A good story

A peaceful

story

A happy story

A brave story

A noble story

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 18

An HONEST story

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 19

I looked for the good wolf. All I could find was

the bad wolf.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 20

I looked more for the good wolf. All I could find

was the bad wolf.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 21

I looked more for the good wolf. All I could find

was the bad wolf.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 22

I looked more for the good wolf. All I could find

was the bad wolf.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 23

And she ranted and raged and fussed and fumed I was afraid she might start a fire

Why are you so angry?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 24

And then when my ears got tired I listened with my heart and then I listened with my soul

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 25

And the wolf didn’t look so angry any more

How powerful your anger is.

I wonder what you could build with

that much power.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 26

And she wept and she wailed and she screeched and she sobbed and I was afraid she would start a flood

Why are you so sad?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 27

And then when my ears got tired I listened with my heart and then I listened with my soul

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 28

And the wolf didn’t look so sad any more

How tender your sadness is.

How well you must have loved with that

much tenderness.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 29

And she shivered and she shook and she shuddered and she spluttered and I was afraid she would start an earthquake

Why are you so afraid?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 30

And then when my ears got tired I listened with my heart and then I listened with my soul

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 31

And the wolf didn’t look so scared any more

How alive your fear is. I wonder what you could awaken

with that much aliveness.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 32

And she bowed and she bent and she hunched and she hid and I was afraid she would disappear

Why are you so

ashamed?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 33

And then when my ears got tired I listened with my heart and then I listened with my soul

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 34

And the wolf didn’t look so ashamed any more

How humble and wise your mistakes

made you. I admire the wisdom

you have gained.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 35

Powerful Tender Alive Noble

And loving

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 36

Like a very good wolf indeed!

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 37

What did you learn?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 38

I thought the bad wolf was the problem I learned I needed to listen with both ears. I thought I shouldn’t feed the bad wolf. But I did. I fed her compassion, caring, ideas and inspiration. I fed the good wolf inside the bad wolf.

Just then Grandfather woke from his nap. He noticed the eldest youngster and said:

You look well. Have you been

feeding the good wolf?

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 40

Yes, Grandfather, I have.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 41

and sat down to tell the children another tale while Grandmother stirred more soup.

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 42

you might find the “wrong wolf.”

©2012 Meryl Runion Rose www.speakstrong.com 43

make sure you aren’t casting out the best part of yourself.

Practice listening with both ears to what anger, sadness, fear and regret have to teach you.

Find the power, tenderness, aliveness and wisdom at their core.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about wholeness.
