How the new systemwill work

Implications for Providers

1. Users direct their support – when, where and how. Can organisations respond?

2. Marketing becomes important if users have choice of provider

3. Business processes and planning will have to change

4. Better prevention means more people will be signposted for earlier interventions

User and carer involvement Working in partnership

Some myth-busting…1. Everyone should have self-directed support

and care, but …2. Not all Personal Budget users have to handle

cash – others, like the Council, can do that if asked.

3. People will not be left to manage Personal Budgets without the advice and support they need

4. Safeguarding and managing risk are key; it should be a safer system, but it will be different
