TOTAL SURFACE AREA OF A

TRIANGULAR PRISM

WHAT IS A TRIANGULAR PRISM?

Triangular prism is a three dimensional figure with

two triangular bases and three rectangular lateral

faces.

CONSTRUCTION.

AREA OF THE BASES(TRIANGLES)=

SQRT(S(S-A)(S-B)(S-C))

where a,b,c are the sides of the triangle and s = (a+b+c)/2.

AREA OF THE LATERAL FACES =AH+BH+CH.

Where

-‘ah’ is the area of the rectangular face with breadth ‘a’ and height ‘h’.

-’bh’ is the area of the rectangular face with breadth ‘b’ and height ‘h’.

-’ch’ is the area of the rectangular face with breadth ‘c’ and height ‘h’.

TOTAL SURFACE AREA= BASE AREA+ LATERAL SURFACE AREA.

=(a+b+c)h+2(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c))
