[1] These are the skills UBSA believes our urban youth need to have to become “workforce ready” upon completion of high school. Additional research to determine the effectiveness of focusing on these skill sets will be undertaken by the Goodwin College and the LeBow College.

THE WEST PHILADELPHIA YOUTH INITIATIVE GOALS
PHILADELPHIA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CORP. GOALS
•Launch Youth Initiative Programs throughout the city of Philadelphia starting in West Philadelphia.
•Provide ample activities and developmental programs for children of all ages ranging from about 4-21.
•Programs are designed to alleviate problems within our community stemming from at risk teenagers and young adults.
•Providing our kids with the necessary life and career development skills at a young age, will minimize or eliminate turmoil later in life.
•Need a facility where classes can be held and an indoor gym for our basketball team; preferably in the West Philadelphia Region.
•Upon completion of the career development classes, provide job and career placement services which allows students to utilize the skills they have acquired immediately.
THE WEST PHILADELPHIA YOUTH INITIATIVE GOALS (CONT’D)
• Provide transportation services via shuttles, vans, so that inconvenienced children will have a way to reach our facility.
• Facility will provide a day and mid evening care service for working parents. Parenting classes for single mothers and fathers.
• SAT Prep classes will be included as part of our development programs.
• -College tours and scholarship programs for adolescent teenagers.
• -Indoor facilities with classroom setting and or access to super sites scholarship programs.
• -We would like to employ staff in all areas of our program ranging from coaches to chaperones and tutors who will oversee events, programs, and work production.
