Although usually spelled universally in the U.S. with the "e," technically the Irish X has the "e" where the Scottish one does not. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word is derived from the Gaelic uisgebeatha, meaning "water of life.“

Irish X reigned supreme over its Scottish rival. Boom was followed by bust – and near extinction – but today the good times are back and the drink has gained back its prominence in the Emerald Isle.

A X torpedo is an explosive charge placed within one or several connected tubes. It is used by combat engineers to clear obstacles that would otherwise require them to approach directly, possibly under fire. It is sometimes colloquially referred to as a “X mine", or simply “X". The X torpedo was first devised by Captain McClintock, of the British Indian Army unit, the Madras Sappers and Miners in 1912.

The Big Red One is a film set in the Second World War. Screenwriter and director of The Big Red One Samuel Fuller, a veteran of D-Day, expressed through the film's narrator his own feelings about the inherent hazards of assembling and employing the demolition device: "The X torpedo was 50 feet long and packed with 85 pounds of TNT, and you assembled it along the way - by hand. I'd love to meet the asshole who invented it."

Cinema

One of the most iconic scenes in X is where Y and Z calmly sit down for a man-to-man chat in an effort to understand each other a little better, both affirming that neither is going to stop what they’re doing, and they’re not going to let each other get in their way. Bringing these two together for a confrontation for the first time was a big deal, and there were even rumours that Y and Z never shot the scene together, opting to do each part independently of each other.

During an Academy screening panel of a 4K re-master of X, moderator Christopher Nolan confirmed that evidence of the actors working together in the same place at the same time lies in a picture that you can see at the real location the scene was shot in, Kate Matalini’s diner in Beverly Hills. However, it was revealed that Y and Z never rehearsed the scene before shooting it.

The oldest tradition is to use dyed and painted Y to celebrate X, but a modern custom is to substitute chocolate Y wrapped in colourful foil, or plastic Y filled with confectionery such as chocolate.

Although, X achieved true success in another sport during the rehab following his NFL injury. Although not a fan of the sport, he saw it as an alternative to his fledgling football career , began training and reached incredible heights in the sport.
