The Christmas Truce

By Jared

In 1914 allied troops were fighting German troops on the western front

Trench warfare was really, really dirty and not a nice place for the soldiers to be!

On Christmas Day, the troops from both sides declared a ceasefire.

The soldiers met in no mans land, where they exchanged gifts and sung Christmas carols.

The soldiers agreed that they would play a game of football.

This is a picture of the solders playing football.

On 12 December 2014 Prince William was joined by Roy Hodgson to unveil a memorial to remember the Christmas Truce in World War One when soldiers from Britain and Germany stopped fighting and played football on Christmas Day.
