Work to DateCPD

• CPD sessions – a formal way to introduce new technologies to staff and allow them to explore in a safe environment.– 20th Oct Social Networking– 8th Dec – Social Networking– 12th Jan – Presentational ICT– 9th Feb – Mobile Tech– 7th March – Presentational tools whole school– 27th April – Mobile Tech

• Bluetooth modules given to staff members who attended the mobile technology session to support their use of mobile technologies.

Work to dateVOICE

• Implementation of St James Voice– Whole School social network using Open

source software, Elgg. Concept researched as part of the SSAT Innovation Fellows programme.

– Presentations – PELC• Students presented the work at the Plymouth

E-Learning Conference at the University of Plymouth. The session was very well received with excellent feedback and follow up blogs.

Work to dateSt James Speaks

• St James Speaks Online– Supported by AimHigher as a national pilot

project. By the students for the students. Instilling blogging principles and keeping the news fresh and up to date. Lead by University student associate. Working in partnership with St James Speaks Newsletter produced by English department.

• Ski Trip Blog and French Residential blog– Encouraged literacy though new technology.

Also allowed parents to communicate with students.

• School Twitter, Facebook and YouTube– Raise the profile and allow

communication with the community.

Work to DateiNet

• Michigan– Key note speaker at iNet International

conference in Michigan. Work as an SSAT Innovation fellow carried out at St James demonstrated and discussed.

Work to DateAdvocate School

• ICT Register Advocate School– Advocate schools will be listed on the

ICT register and will be able to offer consultancy services to other schools. This has raised the profile of St James and will allow me to lead new technology projects in other schools.

• Mobile and Social Media Policies– Will ensure safe guarding issues are

addressed. Will allow the school to discipline students who abuse new technologies.

Work to dateSSAT

• SSAT Innovation Grant– £1000 obtained from the SSAT to further embed

the use of Elgg at St James and train staff to get the maximum benefits from the resource in their lessons cross curricula. Students will also be trained to become Elgg ambassadors to support staff training, aid other students and act as a focus group for new and exciting uses of the software in school.

• I will work with 4 local primary schools to support them in setting up and using their own Elggs.

• TeachMeet– An informal unconference to bring local

educators together to discuss and share new technologies.

Work to dateYoung Art Futures

• YoungArtFutures– Cross school, cross subject project

focused on using mobile phones to record images and GPS tracks to create a digital fresco.

• MVU– International pilot of Global Issues

course. 4 year 9’s to take part in pre pilot, summer term. 20 KS4 students to take part in Pilot (Autumn term).

• Oregon– Invited to University of Oregon (along

with 2 other Fellows, Dane from Note Dame, Plymouth and Damian from Carmarthen LEA) to support the implementation of the university’s blended learning software using Elgg, Mahara and Moodle (with Big Blue Button)

Where I am going next• Further Embed the use of Elgg across the school. Using CPD

and subject specific support sessions.• SSAT Innovation Grant – work with 4 local primary schools• Advocate School – already received email for advice on

social networking• Flipped Learning – Tutorials + Twitter/Diigo• School Website with embedded social media

(Twitter/Facebook/YouTube) that is updated by departments and admin staff

• St James Speaks – Hand over to English department• MVU – Global issues pilot• Apps for Good – pilot twilight course to plan and create an

android app.• Future TeachMeet’s

What success I hope to have• Safe and responsible use of New Technologies by

students.• Students using New Technologies to support

student Voice/Leadership.• ALL teachers using New Technologies within their

lessons/• Better communication with the community
