Sharing Ideas for OU Live Digital Teaching Materials
We have the tools and ideas, how do we implement sharing?
Once upon a time there were two tutors who both had good ideas
about improving students’ learning experience in OU Live
But they didn’t know each other, they taught on different courses and lived many miles apart. If their ideas ever got together, they might change the way we teach, but they had to travel a long and difficult path if they were to reach their destiny. First the idea has to get out of their heads and onto the computer.
Barriers include confidence, technology, professional doubts and time. But it goes well with their own students.Once they overcome all that, they might share with colleagues…
They have to overcome their own preconceptions and doubts first. They might face judgement. They also have to give up ownership of their work. But finally the two ideas meet…
Finally the two ideas have met each other and produced something even better, but it doesn’t stop there…

Once out there, the idea is re-versioned, mashed up and ‘a thousand flowers bloom’.*
*But this is not followed by show-trials and mass-executions, probably.
So What?
Barriers are: • Personal• Social• Professional• Institutional• TechnicalThere are some easy targets here…
