In Le Puy du Fou

• In Le Puy du Fou we visited the Coliseum.

• It is where the Roman games took place.

• Roman games were very important.• They had a religious meaning• Here they were in honour of the God

Mars.

• The games had a political meanings too.• People could see how powerful some men

were.

• The games also had a social role. • Everybody went to the games :

– Men, women, slaves

The procession• First, there was a parade in the town.• The man at the front was the man

offering the games.

The gladiators• They were different gladiators.• Some gladiators fought against

gladiators.• Some gladiators fought against animals.

The Retiarius• They don’t wear a lot of clothes.• They have a arm band on their left arm.• They have a net and a trident.• They don’t have a helmet or a shield.

The secutors• They wear a helmet.• They have a sword and a shield.

The Samnites• They wear protection on their legs and

arms• They have a big shield, a large helmet.• They have a short sword.

The Thraces• They have a small shield and a helmet.• They have a curved sword.

The murmillo

• They have a big helmet, a large shield and a short sword.
