What is Referencing?

Why Reference?

Write down the following details for each information source that you use:

What is a Bibliography?

Need to ensure the quotation is correctly referenced using the Harvard Referencing System

Example It is argued that “people are often

discriminated against because of their race, beliefs, gender, religion, sexuality, physical or mental ability or age” (Stretch 2007 p. 176).

Quotations

Longer quotations - separate paragraph, introducedby a colon, indented from the left margin, no quotation marks

Example:Maria Montessori created :

carefully graded self-teaching materials which stimulated children’s learning through the use of their senses (Kamen 2000 p.95).

Long Quotations

Need to include the following: Author, (Year of Publication) Title. Edition, Place of

Publication: Publisher

Referencing a Book

Need to include the following: Author, (Year of Publication) Title. [e-book] Edition. Place

of publication: Publisher. Available from:URL [Accessed: Date]
