Pressure

• Pressure is the amount of force exerted on a certain area.

• The SI unit for pressure is Pascal (Pa).

Fluids• A fluid is any material that can flow and

that takes the shape of its container.

• Examples:• Loquids- water and oil• Gases- CO2 and oxygen

Pressure all around

• Fluids exert pressure equally in every direction.

• This may explain why bubbles are round.

Pressure and depth

• Pressure does not depend in the amount of the fluid but in the depth of that fluid.

• The deeper an object in a fluid, the more pressure the fluid exerts on the object.

Density and pressure

• Fluids with a greater density will exert a greater pressure.

Pascal's Priciple

• A change in pressure at any point in an enclosed fluid will be transmitted equally to all parts of the fluid.

• A clear example for this priciple is hydraulics.
