These small mammals fulfill several important functions in forest ecosystems. Their activities harvesting and hoarding tree seeds play a crucial role in seedling establishment.

extremely itchy, likes to attach to trees and grow as a vine, and extremely flammable.

which can be seen from long distances. Can survive in a drought which makes them perfect flowers for the dry forest.

Plants and Trees that grow by rivers and creeks. I found some of these around creeks and some around rivers.

Dark Rock Moss Often grows on trees

and rocks can be dark brown, green, and usually black when dry.

Valley Grasslands

Needle Grass It clumps about 2 feet

tall and 6 feet across. Once it goes dry it

goes dormant.

it has been walked over and ran over a couple of time.

Usually found in the middle of weeds and dryer areas.
