People Media

– People as a medium of instruction and information dissemination.

– People are the primary tool of transferring knowledge and information.

– Information is being passed down from one person to another such as hunting and survival skills, cultural practices and traditions, art and literature, religion and history, scientific discoveries, etc.

Print Media-Medium that uses any printed materials (newspapers, magazines, etc.) to convey information. It has a medium audience range and uses visual text or images.

-Remains as the primary aid/tool of teachers and students in classroom learning (books).

-Authors who publish educational materials are experts in their own field.

-A good source of current news and events (newspapers) which broadens social consciousness.

-An outlet for expressing oneself through written and visual art (poems, paintings, etc.)

People in Print Media– They are the ones who utilize text visual arts in

order to impart knowledge, transfer information and express opinions using printed materials such as books, newspapers and magazines.

– Examples: authors, publishers, editors, columnists, visual artists, photographers

Educational Implicationof Print media– Remains as the primary too/aid of teachers and

students in classroom learning– Authors who publish educational materials are

experts in their own field

Radio Media– Radio is a powerful mass medium used in education for

disseminating information, imparting instructions and giving entertainment.

– Radio media can e used over a large area by means of producing data that is transmitted over radio waves (AM/FM). This data is then received by our radios and is converted into sound.

People in Radio Media– -They are the ones who utilize radio media such

as cassette tapes, CDs, podcasts and AM/FM radio broadcasting in distributing local and international facts and entertainment.

– Examples: Radio DJs, broadcasters, commentators, radio actors, song artists

Educational Implication– School broadcasting – ex. DZUP

– Social awareness programming that discusses significant issues of the society and presents possible solutions that enlighten and educate people on a larger scale

– A medium for formal and non-formal education- ex. Interactive Radio Instruction

TV Media– Medium that uses the television set to present

information. It has a wide audience reach and uses both audio and visual features

People in TV Media– They are personalities on TV as well as people working

behind the camera who use television as a media for disseminating information which serve both educational and entertainment purposes.

– Ex. News anchors, reporters, hosts, actors, script writers, video jocks

Educational Implication– Presents a fun and creative way of learning through educational TV

programs ex. Sineskwela, MathTinik, Kchannel

– The Children’s Television Act of 1990 requires broadcast television stations in the United States to carry a minimum of three hours of educational/international programming geared directly at children.

– Short films and documentaries for in depth studies – ex. Discovery Health Channel, Animal Planet

Web Media– The medium is the internet or the world wide

web as a means of information exchange. It uses both audio and visual functionality as well as digital or electronic data.

People in Web Media– They are the ones responsible for sharing

knowledge and information in the world wide web through digital or electronic formats found in blogs, websites and online social media.

– Examples: bloggers, web administrators, online media users, web writers

Educational Implications– The internet is becoming a major source of research

materials due to the vast information stored in the internet coupled with efficient data search engines

– Free online courses ex- Coursera

– Online educational programs – Knowledge Channel

– Outlet for group meetings and discussions – FB groups, Yahoo groups, UVLE, etc.

Instructional Media– The medium that uses instructional materials and

resources to impart knowledge, skills and attitude through educational or technical courses.

People in Instructional Media– Teachers/Content Experts

– They are the main source of information in a classroom-like environment. They facilitate the learning of the students using different tools and strategies to incorporate proper knowledge, skills and attitudes.

– Examples: professors, instructors, speakers, coaches, trainers

– Students are the learners or scholars who receive educational tutelage from teachers and benefit mostly from instructional media.

– Ex. Pre-school, grade school, high school, college and graduate students

REFLECTION– In lesson5 about Media information services I learned about what I can get in a magazine, academic

journal, data base, newspaper, library catalog, and also books. Through this we can get different information about what is happening now in our world and also we can get a lot of lessons through all of this while we are still studying and also in the future.

– In lesson14 about audio information and media, I learned that in the future everything will more easy to use because in that time everything will be in advance.

REFLECTION– In Lesson12 about text information and media, I learned to describe the different dimension of

text information and media. We can use information about the media today and in the future.– –

– In lesson10 about media information literate individual, I learned to synthesize the overall of media and information to an individual person, professional, education, and the society as whole

economics, social, political, and others through this I learned the different information’s.–

Reflection

–In Lesson 1 I've learned that Media and information Literacy plays an important role in communication. Media and Information will enable us to access, understand and create communications . Media literacy is the ability to access,analyze,evaluate create and act using all forms of communication . Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed. In this lesson we are tasked to create a diagram about media and information literacy so that we can easily remember the media and information literacy lesson.– – In Lesson 5 I learned about the Sources of Information,–in this topic the sources of information are the magazine, academic journal, database ,newspapers, Library catalog,books,encyclopedia and web site. Through this we are knowledgeable about some recent current issues from inside and outside the country.– 

Reflection

– In Lesson 6 The topic was Media and Information Languages . I learned from this topic is the Codes which is a system of signals or symbols used for communication and you cannot be able to read it if you dont know how to read the codes or sign that is given. The other one that I've learned is the conventions which means a habits or long accepted ways of doing things or a traditional or common style that often used. In this case codes and conventions are usually used in our daily activities in life.– – In Lesson 9 the topic was Current and Future Trends of Media and Information. I learned from this topic that soon the things are more advance or high-tech example the wearable technology which means a Military and industrial applications for wearables especially emphasize their hands-free aspect, and concentrate on speech inputs and heads-up display or voice output. There are more different things that was already discover which is so Advance. In this case people can do things easily through technology.– – In Lesson 11 It was all about people media. I learned from this topic that people are the primary tool of transferring knowledge and information. In this case people are the one who sents information to all.

Reflection

– ( Lesson 1) I have learned that Media plays important role in spreading an information. It sends the information as fast as the speed of light. Media influences our life, specially in our culture, thoughts, attitudes and action. Media is one of the factors that builds our character as a user.

– ( Lesson 2) I have learned that media changes so fast. From Papyrus scrolls to the latest gadget as of today to disseminate information. Changing of media moves so fast, that is why people tend to get addicted to it.

– ( Lesson 4) I have learned that the oldest type of media is print. The distribution mechanisms of mass media is physical, radio, land line, internet, and undistributed. Print, audio, video and software are the current media on different list.

Reflection

– ( Lesson 5 ) I have learned that there are several media and information services, those are; magazines, Academic journals, Database, Newspapers, Library catalog, Book, Encyclopedia, Website and Global indigenous media. These are Media and information services that could help us to disseminate information fast.

– ( Lesson 7 ) I have learned the 10 rules of netiquette. It tells us on When and how to use capitalized letters, not to plagiarize, use the proper quote, not to gossip, not to steal other peoples’ property, to watch our language, be welcoming to the internet newbie, no spamming, if you will use header make sure that the content is connected to the header and the last is to avoid overuse of emoticons( that can irritate netizens).
