•Students who wish to transfer to a national school after completion of PSLE at Primary 6 are excluded from the MOE’s Sec 1 Joint Admission Exercise.•They will need to apply directly to the school or MOE for assistance and will only be allocated after the exercise is complete.•Thus acceptance of a place at a Madrasah includes the acknowledgment of this inevitability.
