History of Nuclear Power Hahn and

Strassman were the first men to figure out how to harness nuclear fission to turn it into nuclear power / energy.

Harnessing Nuclear Fission

Nuclear fission is harnessed by the use of nuclear power rods being submerged into water.

nucleus of an atom splits into smaller parts making gamma rays (free neutrons and photons floating around)

This heat produced from nuclear fission powers different things therefore being called nuclear power.

How Nuclear Power is Produced

fuel rods and the control rods are placed in water that is from an outside source

As the nuclear fission occurs water heats up and in tern generates steam

steam is then confined to a small pipe which is connected to a large turbine

steam turns the turbine and the turbine in turn, turns the generator which creates electricity
