DESCRIPTION
Friday, November 5, 20103:10 - 4:00 PMJoVE, Journal of Visualized Experiments, is the first PubMed-indexed video methods journal in biology. Join a publisher and co-founder of JoVE and a senior collection management librarian in a discussion on next generation science journals: marketing and distribution of non-traditional online publications, licensing and subscription issues, and the challenges related to the acceptance of these publications within the library community. During the session, we will engage the audience aiming to answer questions such as: how next-generation publishers can help the library community to recognize the value of novel tools for the faculty, researchers, and students.

Biomedical Research Minor
Biomedical Research 5HA - Biomedical Research: Concepts and Strategies. In this course, outstanding research faculty from the Medical School and College are invited to give a seminar on cutting edge research recently conducted in their laboratory. Each seminar is videotaped and used as an entry point for a series of lectures by the instructor that center on concepts and experimental approaches relevant to the seminar.
Life Sciences 10H - Research Training in Genes, Genetics and Genomics. This discovery-based research course gives students hands-on experience with laboratory research in Drosphila genetics. Sponsored by Dr. Utpal Banerjee's HHMI Professors Award, LS 10H has already yielded publications in some major science journals with an unprecedented list of authors that includes over 150 undergraduates.
