Motivation Definition: (in educational terms)Desire, willingness, to improve our service to the learners, by creating interest towards the learning situation.

Other definition:Motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal and elicits, controls, and sustains certain goal directed behaviours. For instance: An individual has not eaten, he or she feels hungry, and as a response he or she eats and diminishes feelings of hunger.

In psychology:Motivation is the process that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviours.

There are many approaches to motivation: physiological, behavioural, cognitive, and social.

Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge.

There are two types of motivation:Intrinsic & Extrinsic.Intrinsic: Voluntary motivation (Self motivation)

Extrinsic: Externally motivated (Motivation by others)

Motivation- Internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job.

Motivation is creating willingness, arousal of interest in learning.  Methods of motivation:arousing curiosity, stressing importance, rewards and benefits, etc. The source of motivation can be a good teacher, Favorable learning condition, Healthy competition, etc.

Motivating Students in classroom:

1. Praise Students in Ways Big and Small.

2. Spread Excitement Like a Virus. Show your enthusiasm in

the subject & use appropriate, concrete and understandable

examples to help students grasp it. 

3. use a variety of teaching methods.

4.Relate lessons to Students’ Lives. students will care more if

they identify themselves or their everyday lives in what

they’re learning. 

5.Track Improvement. Set achievable, short-term goals,

emphasis improvement, keep self-evaluation forms to fill out

and compare throughout the year.
