MINDFULNESS

“In practicing mindfulness, we develop our natural power of Awareness & Intention”

Awareness: The mental faculty of being interested in something. (passive)

Intention: The mental faculty of choosing an action or outcome. (active)

Example: Intention- I intent to notice the in-breath, without judgment.Awareness- I feel the sensations of the in-breath with interest.

MINDFULNESS

“More Mindfulness = More Choices”

Other Expressions of Mindfulness:Noticing & ChoosingKnowing & Deciding

In practicing mindfulness, we use ‘phrases of intention’ to guide the activity of the mind. This allows us to return to a grounded state of being, with more clear choices.

Practice Example:“Breathing in, I slowly count to three”“Breathing in, I know I am breathing in” “Breathing in mindfully, I feel the sensations of the in breath”
