The course teaches managers, supervisors and other employees how to assist a co-worker who is developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

Mental health problems covered:

- Depression- Anxiety problems- Psychosis- Substance use problems

Mental health crises covered:

- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours- Non-suicidal self-injury- Panic attacks- Traumatic events- Severe psychotic states- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use- Aggressive behaviours

All course content is evidence-based.

Blended Course Structure

• Designed for workplaces that require increased flexibility, this is a Blended Course a combination of self-paced online learning (eLearning) and 3.5-hours of follow-on face-to-face training.

• Course participants first complete the interactive eLearning component that presents an overview of mental health problems and mental health crises in workplace settings.

• The follow-on 3.5 hour face-to-face training allows participants the opportunity to:

o Revise and consolidate skills in a group environment,

o Address mental health problems in the workplace in more depth

o Discuss ‘what next’ in using their MHFA knowledge and skills at work.
