2. Identify specific parts of a book and the information included in each part.

five different areas of our library and explain what is found in each area.

EASY Section

• The first section is called Easy. This section is fiction.

Easy Books• Easy books use illustrations (pictures)

to tell much of the story.• The illustrations in Easy books

sometimes tell different parts of the story than the words.

• Illustrations are very important in Easy books and are sometimes more important than the words!

• Easy books are ‘make-believe’ stories from the author’s imagination.

• Fiction books usually have more words, fewer pictures, and longer stories than Easy books.

• In Fiction books, the words are more important for the story than the pictures are.

• Fiction books are ‘made-up’ stories.

Each book in the library has many parts. You will learn six parts :

The Cover of a Book

• The cover is the outside of a book. There is usually a front cover, a back cover, and the part in between them called the spine.

The Spine of a Book

• The spine of a book is the part that you see when the book is on the shelf.

• The spine of a book helps hold your book together and keeps it strong just like the spine in your body does!
