How to prevent spreading of Flu?

Objectives

The objective of this CD is to transfer knowledge to the students of 11-12 class regarding the prevention of flu spread. It will provide common ways to stay away from flu and lead a healthy life. A general idea of flu as well as its health effects are also included in this information tool.

Flu: what is it?

Flu is the common name of the disease Influenza. It is a viral (caused by a virus) disease of respiratory tract. It is notoriously contagious and can attack the people of all ages. Kids are more likely to be infected than adults.

Flu: How can you know this?

Flu have some signs and symptoms.

SYMPTOMS:Symptoms, which usually begin about 2 days after exposure to the virus, can include:feverchillsheadachemuscle achesdizziness

How the flu spread?

Flu spread by virus infected droplets which are coughed or sneezed in the air.

Flu infected people can spread the germ from 1 day before sick till the symptoms disappeared.

How to prevent flu spreading?

It is not guaranteed that after getting vaccination any one can prevent from Flu. However vaccination one of the preventing step. Avoiding crowded area is helpful but it is sometimes impossible. Here some easy and practical ways of preventing the Flu from spreading.

Activity-1

The best way of preventing Flu is hand washing. After sneezing, coughing and using the bathroom, wash your hand thoroughly and frequently with warm water and soap. Hand wash also essential before eating. Dry your hand with a clean towel.

Activity-2

Always use new tissue, never pick up tissue which is used by others.

Activity-3

Never share eating equipments, such as cups, glass, plate, spoon and so on. Specially with people who attack by Flu.

Activity-4

When you are sick with Flu, you needs to stay home and in this way, you can protect others from contamination.

Activity-5

When you cough or sneeze, use tissue for covering your nose and mouth. Used tissue always put in the rubbish. It is better sneeze and cough into your upper arm then your hands when there is no tissue.

When you are ill, you require specific medical treatment.
