INSECTS

Insects have three body parts: a head, a thorax and an abdomen

Insects have antennae on their heads

They use their antennae to:

touch taste smell

Insects have six legs that are connected to the thorax

Some insects have one or two pairs of wings connected to the thorax

Others don’t have wings

An insect body is symmetricalThis means that it’s the same on each side

Some insects are carnivores

Insects lay eggs. Baby insects are called larvae

Some larvae transform into adult insects by getting bigger

Sometimes by growing wings

Some larvae transform into adult insects inside a pupa. This is called a chrysalis in butterflies
