Industrialization is the period of social and economic change that transform a human group from an agrian society in to an industrial one. It is a part of wider modernization process, where social change and economic development are closely related with technological innovation, particularly with the development of large scale energy and metallurgy production, it is the extensive organization of an economy for the purpose of manufacturing. Industrialization also introduce a form of philosophical change where people obtain a different attitude towards their perception of nature, and a sociological process of ubiquitous renationalization.

highly charmless lifeUnexcitement in societyArtificial relationshipUrbanization and modernizationUnnatural environmentEmotional less artificial heartContinuous work, sleepless night

Title – personification

“ no tender word for mouth are lipless. Hard cash buys artificial heart.”

“ No book where wisdom is read. The painter’s palette flowers with crystals of coral.”

“ Insomniac nights O nights of Manhattan,…

in these lines we may find no death to this sort of life

No spirituality

No essence of culture

No value based on tradition

They (New York) do not have heritage at all

Life has lost its true purpose and rusted in the ‘steel articulation’

The steel articulation refers to the industrial revolution

Artificial relationship between father and son

Modernization and industrialization lost the real charm of life.

Reflection of Modernization

Examples

1) “ there was a time indeed they used to shake hands with their hearts; but what gone, son

now they shake hands without hearts while their left hands search my empty pockets”.

“ and I have learned, too, to laugh with only my teeth and shake hands without my hearts.

I have also learned to say, ‘goodbye’ when I mean ‘good – riddance’ ;

to say ‘ glad to meet you’ ; without being glad ;and to say ‘ It’s been nice talking to you after being

bored’’ .

Negativity and falseness

TitleTitle – once upon a time

According to my point of view

The title itself suggest that a father recall his emotion, his feeling, and his love towards his son when he (his son) was a child.

Now child become a businessman, he changed his relation, his life after getting success or being an industrialized person due to the urbanization.

Lost innocence of youth.

Hypocrisy of adult.

Ancient culture of Africa is faced struggle with modern western culture.

Changing behavior pattern with time.

Satire on falseness in modern society.

Mood

Nostalgic Tone – sad

The poem illustrate how people of society have fake personalities and they are trying to return to being more innocent and pure again.

“ Laugh with their teeth, while their ice – block – cold eyes search behind ma shadow”
