HYDRANTS AND HAND TOOLS And what this is…..

HYDRANTS AND HAND TOOLS Is everybody on the same page with how we hook up to the other?

Are we all familiar with where all the needed equipment is?

HYDRANTS AND HAND TOOLS What trucks are we most likely to have a need for a hydrant hook-up?

Engine 28 Engine 30 Tower 3

Others truck may be used but the above three are the ones we are most likely to encounter.

On Engine 28 and T-3 the steamer adaptor is attached to the hydrant end of the Large Diamtere Hose (LDH 5”)

On Engine 30 it is loose but right next to the hydrant bag.

HYDRANTS AND HAND TOOLS Making the main steamer connection:

Doesn’t get much easier than this!!!!

HYDRANTS AND HAND TOOLS So what are the caps on the side for?

Remember the ¼ turn gate we saw in the hydrant bag or the double female adaptor?

¼ Gate allows additional lines to be hooked up later. Many departments would have two 2 ¼ gates in their hydrant bag for this purpose.

Can use double female to allow 2 ½ port to be used to fill a tanker or other uses.
