IntroductionA DL in which collections are stored in digital formats and accessible via computers. The digital content may be stored locally, or accessed remotely via computer networks. A DL is a type of information retrieval system.

DSpace† Digital Object management system† Create, search and retrieve digital objects † Facilitate preservation of digital objects† An open source software† Allows open access and digital archiving† Allows building Institutional Repositories

Statistics had been taken from the OpenDOAR (July 2012) Total founded 2025 repositories among 48(2.3%) from India. Major contributor are Japan and Taiwan. The uses of the repositories software in worldwide are:

† DSpace (749 - 37%)† Eprints (324 - 16%)† Digital Commons (81 - 4%)† OPUS(61 - 3%)† Greenstone(21 - 1%)

Requirement

Requirement for Unix Operating System

† Apache-ant-1.8.3-bin † Apache-maven-3.0.4-bin† Apache-tomcat-7.0.27 † Postgresql-9.1.3 J† Jdk-6u25 † Dspace-3.0-src-release

Reason

† User Interface† Workflow† Open Archives Initiative (OAI)† Persistent Identifiers (Handles)† Access Control† Metadata Schema† Preservation† Search and Retrieval

Possible DSpace Content† Articles† Preprints, e-prints† Technical Reports† Conference Papers† E-theses† Audio/Video† Datasets Statistical, geospatial etc.† Images† Visual, scientific† Teaching material† Lecture notes, visualizations, † Digitized library collections

Mandatory

Repeatability

Multiple Selection

Local path of file

† Uploading Item with Multiple Files

† Item more than one Title

† Multi – Language Documents

ConclusionDSpace Cloud† Get your repository up and running quickly and cost

effectively† Select the features that suit your needs† Ease the pain of software upgrades and maintenance† Protect your content† Take your repository back at any time† DSpace is a fairly powerful software† Allows submission of digital documents by it members
